What brought you to Yoga 4 Studio?: I was noticing that it was harder to get up off the floor when working with my students. I work as a paraprofessional in a local school. Students would often ask if I needed help getting up.

What do you love about Yoga 4?: The teachers are what have kept me coming back to class. They have been so encouraging and offer many suggestions on how to modify poses to fit my flexiblity.

What is your favorite class to take at Yoga 4?: Probably the all level classes but I recently took a flow class and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

What is your favorite pose?: Tree pose is my favorite pose. I like the challenge it offers. Sometimes I balance longer then others.

Have you noticed a difference in your health/fitness/stress since joining us?: Yes I am able to get up off the floor with much more ease and I am not as stiff in the mornings.

What are some of your favorite ways to spend your free time?: I take drawing classes at the Chicago Botanical Gardens, spend as much time as possible with my grandson and I am also an avid reader.


Holly-

What brought you to Yoga 4 Studio?: I started a new journey a year ago to change my life style and become a healthier me.

What do you love about Yoga 4?: Its a safe place to be ones self, they give you guidance and encouragement to better your mind and body, the classes nourishes both.

What is your favorite class to take at Yoga 4?: Probably the all level, they are geared to be open to challenging sometimes pushing you to be a little adventurous yet giving you options to be comfortable.

What is your favorite pose?: Pigeon

Have you noticed a difference in your health/fitness/stress since joining us?: Definitely.......to say at 66 you can't change and better your body, well you can!! I definitely have better balance, flexibility, and look so forward to class to relieve any stress levels

What are some of your favorite ways to spend your free time?: Meditation, grandchildren, and my animals

What brought you to Yoga 4 Studio?: In March 2017 I looked at a picture of myself and was NOT happy. I needed to drop some weight and feel better about my mental and physical health. I was just aching all over and not happy with myself. I tried yoga several years ago, lasted only about 5 months since the studio I was attending was farther away. So I was a beginner. I Googled Yoga in Huntley, found the studio and signed up the next day.

What do you love about Yoga 4?: Yoga 4 is a great studio close to my house. The padded floors are awesome and do wonders for my knees. But most importantly are the instructors. They have guided and motivated me to continue practicing yoga. Classes vary each night which helps in all of my practice meaning you can go as deep into a pose as you feel. Christina and Tara also take the time to correct poses during class, in a gentle, guidance type of way. I come back for them and because I'm happy with my progress. I have come so far. In addition to being instructors, they are friends and care about your life and well being. I like that.

What is your favorite class to take at Yoga 4?: My favorite class is Flow with Tara on Wednesday night. That is so challenging for me however when I see myself stronger each week, I'm glad I went to class It pushes me to where I never thought I could go. The sequence of moves it part of the challenge with balance and core work etc..., but the totality of the class works on stamina and BREATHING. However I go to classes Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu night and each class has a different benefit for me. And I work on something different each night, whether it's, "holding my core", or "keep the shoulders down", or "bend knees farther in warrior/lunge poses". I know what each class is about and I focus on my opportunities.

What is your favorite pose?: I would have to say Half Moon pose because from the first time I saw that pose, I just chuckled since I thought, "Are you kidding me, I can't do that!", but now I can pop right into it. Looking back I could barely touch my toes, now I can put my palms on the floor and my head to my knees. However even my 'not favorite' poses I do like since they challenge me. Tara loves her side planks! I don't. but when I do them, they make me stronger.

Have you noticed a difference in your health/fitness/stress since joining us?: My health has changed dramatically. I have dropped 20 pounds during the past year of yoga (March 15, 2017). I have these muscles in my legs I didn't know I had. I'm physically toned, and mentally in balance. I feel I have more control over my emotions, as I am that Type A personality. Yoga has calmed me down and I see things from a different perspective these days. That is a great feeling.

What are some of your favorite ways to spend your free time?: Steve and I love going to see live music at the local bars. We love these old school bars out this way, Sammy's, Red Ox, Red Mill. The owners of Sammy's are friends of mine so I help out/volunteer at the bar with many activities. Decorating for St. Pats, Halloween, Christmas, Festivals running the beer truck. It's so much fun. Summers are spent at friends pools. We take road trip vacations with his kids. Colorado, Cheyenne, Mt. Rushmore was one trip, Niagara Falls, NYC, Nashville was another trip. We are hoping for Arizona/California this year. We love going to the Dominican Republic as I've been there about 20 times with my Vacation Club Ownership. Sunshine is the best with live music!

What brought you to Yoga 4 Studio?: I have been wanting to try Yoga for many years but thought it would be a bit too hard for me as I have had back and knee issues for many years. When I saw the Yoga 4 studio sign go up in my neighborhood I thought why not see what it's like. I went in and Christina the owner explained the classes to me and suggested Yin Yoga. It was a great start for me to get the feel of the studio and the practice. I started feeling better in spirit and body. I have been taking beginner/ all level for over a year and have recently started the intro to Ashtanga class.

What do you love about Yoga 4?: The studio makes me feel good about myself. Its has a great atmosphere.

What is your favorite class to take at Yoga 4?: Ashtanga class is my favorite.

What is your favorite pose?: Tree pose and wide leg forward fold with a twist.

Have you noticed a difference in your health/fitness/stress since joining us?: Since I started practicing Yoga I have lost weight and inches off my waist. My back doesn't cause me as much pain as before yoga.I have more strength in my legs and arms and from that I have become more toned. I sleep better and when a stressful situation occurs I feel I can handle things easier than before I started Yoga. I'm so glad I walked into Yoga 4 studio. Its a great place to be!

What are some of your favorite ways to spend your free time?: My favorite things to do are Yoga, gardening, decorating. Going to movies and taking the dog walking with my husband.
